My First London Show!
“Treasure ” — is an exhibition of the country’s most exciting contemporary jewellery designers & it returned to London Jewellery Week (7–13 June) with a three-day showcase in Bloomsbury. This year I’ve become a member of the Association of Contemporary Jewellery and was lucky enough to be chosen to participate in their showcase. There were about 30 designers and each of us got to choose three pieces to exemplify our work. My choices were “Abstracto Shield Necklace” (above) with agate and two of my hammered spinner rings ~ one gold and silver, one oxidised silver (below). The show’s preview night went amazingly well with a really high turn out! And the best possible news of all?? As well as my work being showcased with some of the best independant designers in the UK my Abstracto Necklace SOLD!!! *snoopy dance* & Hoorah for the Red Dot of soldness

After about three hours at work, I had hit that point of the afternoon that requires leaning against the counter and chatting instead of shelving books. Mid-chat, my co-worker stopped talking midsentence to stare intently at a spot just south and to the west of my eyes. Then she reached out one tentative hand and said quietly, ” Are you wearing two earrings in that ear? ” I was bewildered. Of course not. How could I wear two earrings at once? Her hand remained in the space between us, hovering almost at my ear but not quite. I could tell she wanted to touch the earring. Very badly. I stared at her. There was an odd silence between us. Then she committed to curiosity over social boundaries, and delicately poked at my earring. ” Yup. There’s two earrings in that ear. ” I touched my own earring in a state of surreal confusion and realized that I did indeed have two different chandelier earrings hanging from my right ear. One matched the earring in my left ear, the other matched an earring in my jewelry box at home.

Suspects Caught on Camera During Jewelry Store Robbery
Los Angeles: On Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at 11 a.m., three male Black suspects entered a jewelry store located in the 3200 block of Wilshire Boulevard. One of the suspects held the security guard at gun point while the other two smashed the glass jewelry cases with a hammer. During the robbery, the suspects removed thousands of dollars worth of jewelry from the display cases. The suspects then ran out the back door. Outside the store, they encountered the parking lot security guard, a male Korean, who they bludgeoned in an attempt to escape. The suspects then tried to carjack a vehicle driven by a Korean woman but were unsuccessful. The suspects then carjacked a Korean man for his 2001 white GMC Savana van with a California License Plate 6T97736. A third vehicle, a green Toyota van was seen leaving the scene by the third suspect. The stolen green van was reported earlier to police and was found abandoned about one mile away from the jewelry store.

Manteca CA Sept 20 2011 Two Manteca men were arrested on burglary and conspiracy charges in a jewelry theft from the J.C. Penney store shortly before 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon. Julio Baca, 45, of Manteca was arrested at the store, and Matthew Trout, 32, was arrested by officer John Machado as he drove northward beyond the Highway 120 Bypass in a black primered 1980s camper GMC pickup truck. Manteca Police officers allege that Baca forced his way into a jewelry display case by using a knife and took an item valued at over $100 and left the store. Trout �C who police say was his partner �C subsequently returned to the store to return the item in exchange for a Penney’s gift card alerting store security officers who called police. What you’ll need: Cardboard Paper or Cardstock Scissors or Craft Knife Glue or Doublestick Tape Paint or fabric For Necklace Bust: 1. Draw a template on paper or cardstock, I made several of these so made my template on cardstock and it has held up very well. Cut out. 2. Trace your pattern onto your cardboard. Cut out. It’s up to you how to cover it, you can spray paint it, brush paint, or cover it with fabric or felt. I’ve done all three and they all look good. This example was brush painted with black acrylic craft paint. 3. To make the stand, cut a strip of cardboard and score three times: 1/4 inch up from one edge, 3/4 inches up from that and then half way up the remaining distance. Fold inward and attach small flap to the edge that folds down to create a triangle. Attatch to the back of your bust with glue or tape. For Bracelet/ Ring Display: 1. Trace your hand with fingers splayed and up your arm a bit onto your cardboard and cut out. Paint.
